CHANGED: The description for .erc files reads:
Electronic rule check file
This MR changes it to read...
Electrical rule check file
...which is the commonly accepted definition for ERC

'.txt' is a common file extension for drill files. This Merge
Request adds it to the list of extensions used in the File Open dialog
for Excellon Drill files.
Fixes issue https://gitlab.com/kicad/code/kicad/-/issues/2124
Various architecture upgrades to support this.
Creating a BOARD now requires a valid PROJECT, which caused
some (mostly transparent) changes to the Python API internals.
ADDED: Project local settings file
CHANGED: Board design settings are no longer stored in PCB file
CHANGED: Net classes are no longer stored in PCB file
CHANGED: Importing board settings now reads boards, not just projects

Please note that the symbol cache is not embedded in the schematic file
to allow for round robin testing with the existing file format. Once
the parser round robin testing is complete, the symbol cache will be
embedded in the schematic file.
CHANGES: Symbol library file format has been converted to s-expressions.
Add support code for picking apart symbols at some future junction that
will allow full inheritance conversion of existing symbol libraries. For
now, symbols arranged by unit and body style numbers are nested for round
robin testing of symbol libraries once the parser is complete.
Handle symbols as well as strings in the "source" lists of
netlist files.
Handle Protex gerber file extensions.
Check for project_name-whatever pattern for files that we
don't recognize (such as project_name-NPTH-drl_map.ps)
* Fix wildcard display in the file selector dialog (on GTK
it would show the regex to the user)
* Move the file extension comparison into a common function
This fixes the last suffix that was missed by 168fa09f5. The schematic
backup files should have the suffix .sch-bak to distinguish from
.kicad_pcb-bak or other backups.
(cherry picked from commit b6fe4ff637)
Use the AddFileExtListToFilter() to also generate the
wildcard for "all files". This is because:
* Users can use AddFileExtListToFilter for the all files WC
with the same interface as for any other extensions.
* Users do not need to worry about wxGetTranslation, as the
_() is applied in the same way as the other *Wildcard() helpers,
and it is a function just like the others, so it is consistent
* There is a testable interface to document the expected result.
The test is added.
Varargs make it very hard to pass strings in flexibly
when they (and the number of them) are not known
at compile time.
For example, this allows up to now amalgamate the "single
ext" and "multiple ext" unit tests.
It avoid including these extensions in a translatable string, thus avoid breaking filter
if the translation is incorrect (It happens sometimes).
See wildcards_and_files_ext.cpp for use.
Append the appropriate file extension to the file name if the file name
does not have a file extension. This is a know issue with the GTK+ file
dialog.
Make the last 3D viewer screenshot last file used code more coherent.
Add the 3D viewer main frame trace string to the trace environment
variables doxygen group.
Doxygen comment and other minor code cleaning.

Replace all instances of "component" and "part" with "symbol" when
referring to schematic and library symbols.
Replace all instances of "component" with "footprint" when referring to
board and library footprints.
Minor dialog layout fixes to some of the dialogs impacted by the UI
string changes.
The GTK+ file dialog is case sensitive however it does support regular
expressions. Most of the file dialog wildcards are lower case so only
files with the lower case extensions will show up in the file dialog.
This code adds a method to convert file extensions of any case to the
appropriate (sch -> [sS][cC][hH]) regular expression on GTK+ builds so
all file extension case combinations will show up in the file dialog.
A note to developers: make sure to add a file extension when setting
when setting the default file argument. If you do don't set an
extension, the GTK+ file dialog will happily append the regular
expression as the file extension which is surely not what you want.
There are still a few known places (mostly gerbview) where there are
some complex wildcard code that has not been converted.

use KiCad format anymore)
- Fixed build errors
- Fixed a few crashes
