Remove translation mark for strings used in debug, or strings
that cannot be translated (for instance because they are char strings
instead of wide char strings)
Iterating over the tool stack, we potentially remove the current
iterator. If this removal happens at the beginning of the toolstack, we
cannot decrement the iterator to a position before the stack without
creating an invalid state.
Now only reposition a window if it is completely on a
disconnected display or if only one corner is on screen
and it is within a region close to the screen border.

finishTool() later they won't get bit by it.
This also fixes a crash bug where we weren't deactivating all tools

These pads were plotted as a segment. This is not the right way.
Pads must be flashed or plotted as regions, not painted.
They are now plotted as Gerber regions round rectangle pads.
These regions are similar to flashed pads.
Previously, the region was a usual polygon with arc approximated by segment.
Using a region with arcs is a better way because it allows CAM tools to
identify this region as a round-rect pad.
A side effect is a better shape and smaller files, however not really noticeable in fact.
Please note that the symbol cache is not embedded in the schematic file
to allow for round robin testing with the existing file format. Once
the parser round robin testing is complete, the symbol cache will be
embedded in the schematic file.
Previously, for historical reasons, they were added only if
Include Netlist Attributes option was on.
But Aperture Attributes have nothing to do with Netlist Attributes, and good
Gerber files must include them.
Let cmake generate the needed version strings, so we don't
have to spend program time doing it. This simplifies the
settings manager versioning.

Some buggy SVG interpreters can't handle 0-length ovals. In this case,

When editing pcb items, the creation of a new net to connect existing
pads or traces can be a useful shortcut. This inserts the ability to
optionally create a new net from the Net Selector dropdown menu.
The canvas size is not guaranteed to be strictly > 0, so we need to
enforce a minimum returned size before dividing by it or passing to GAL
initialization
Replace SEVERITY_ERROR by RPT_SEVERITY_ERROR to avoid collision with a system definition.
Replace other SEVERITY_XXX by RPT_SEVERITY_XX for consistency.
Fix compil warnings and some other compil issues.
CHANGES: Symbol library file format has been converted to s-expressions.
Add support code for picking apart symbols at some future junction that
will allow full inheritance conversion of existing symbol libraries. For

For some reason, OSX won't return the minimum window size properly
using GetMinWidth/GetMinHeight, so it would not properly adjust
windows with saved size (0,0).
It is already added with MSVC, and must be added with gcc/mingw
However, the cmake option:
add_definitions( -DBOOST_UUID_FORCE_AUTO_LINK )
does not work on msys2 (at least with my cmake version), so another syntax is used.

Using a UTF8 char inside a C string can work on unix, but not on Windows.
It must be explicitly converted in a unicode value inside a wide string
(like a wxString)
When adding a .pretty library, if the actual .pretty folder were
selected then no folder would be added to the list of libraries.
This led to an assert when normalizing paths, and the library
not being added.
Add also a comment in common.cpp about using wxLocale instead of setlocale.
DIALOG_UPDATE_FIELDS has issues in non English languages, due to its design.
The fix for mandatory fields is only a partial fix that avoid major issues.
The immediate action option clears (or not) the position of the events.
We use this to determine if the command should start at the given
position or merely activate the tool. This was being checked in the
menu options, which only activated for tool commands in the context
menu. Moving to the process event, we catch hotkeys as well.
This also restores the previous logic in eeschema that used a static
variable for storing wires rather than the private class variable.
Starting the draw event now picks up from the existing wires when
activated in immediate mode.

Previously we call only setlocale( xx, "C" ), but it was not enough on Windows.
Now we call wxLocale("C")
wxLocale calls setlocale, but also make some others initialization in wxWidgets.
It fixes some issues related to comma versus point as fp separator.
Especially wxWidgets warnings are no longer thrown, and a one case of incorrect
conversion is fixed.
The combination of left over test code in lib_id.h/cpp and the changes
to handle the DEBUG compiler flag correctly on all platforms exposed a
swig issue on debug builds. Removing the offending test from lib_id.h
resolved the issue.

Bitmaps scale internally to 100nm instead of 1mil. There is a better
way to do this but I think we'll be adjusting it again when Cairo
printing in finished.
It served us (mostly) well for more than a decade. It helped KiCad grow
before the std:: came into decent shape or speed. It was a good little
list.
RIP DLIST 2008-2020
This moves EESchema DLIST structures to rtree. These changes are more
fundamental than the pcbnew changes from 9163ac543888c01d11d1877d7c1
and 961b22d60 as eeschema operations were more dependent on passing
drawing list references around with SCH_ITEM* objects.
The old methods were very clunky and not recommended (and didn't
properly cast the function types). This changes to useing the
recommended way of declaring events and casting the event handlers.
For legacy reasons, it stored left and right "spin" as flipped integers in the file format.
But the code handled the flip in multiple locations rather than just doing it on file io.
This change unifies the internal code and does the mapping in the file I/O.
ADD: Allow drawing of current and phase traces with dotted style
for easier differentiation from voltage and magnitude. The option
is available in the View menu of the simulator.

Use wxMessageDialog instead of wxRichMessageDialog in DisplayErrorMessage
so the platform specific message dialog is used. wxRichMessageDialog
looks different than the stock message dialog on every platform so only
use it when a checkbox is required.
This is the first step to allowing non-segments in the line chain.
External routines cannot be allowed to change the line chain without
going through the internal routines. To accomplish this, we remove the
Vertex() and Point() access routines and only leave the const versions.
Transformations are given for both points as well as the chain itself.
This change completely removes the LIB_ALIAS design pattern an replaces
it by allowing LIB_PART objects to inherit from other LIB_PART objects.
The initial implementation only allows for single inheritance and only
supports the mandatory fields in the derived part because that is all
that the current symbol library file format will support. Once the new
file format is implemented and saving to the old file format is deprecated,
more complex inheritance will be added. The LIB_ALIAS information saved
in the document files was move into the LIB_PART object. This change
impacts virtually every part of the schematic and symbol library editor
code so this commit message is woefully incomplete.
REMOVE: Removed the symbol aliases concept from the schematic and symbol
editors and the symbol viewer.
NEW: Replace the symbol alias concept with simple inheritance that allows
a library symbol to be derived from another library symbol.
Ratsnest did not need a reserve and then iterative emplace. Instead, we
use resize(). Stroke font gets private vars initialized and kiway
variables that are only used in debug builds are properly scoped for
releases as well
Calling resize(size()) will only zero out elements that exist above the
vector size(). The memory is not freed in this case. shrink_to_fit()
will accomplish this action (at the discretion of the library)
This update replaces the existing uses of unique pointer creation with
the C++14 std::make_unique call that provides proper memory release in
event of an exception.
The crash is inside wxDynamicLibrary::Load() when loading Eeschema,
and hard to find on Windows (gdb shows nothing).
Perhaps due to some issue with a specific string.
The fix is to switch to "C" locale with LC_COLLATE option to load the dll.

So the best way is to use a wxString for filenames and error messages.

We have forbidden lists maintained in 3 separate locations. This causes
a bit of confusion as to which is correct.
This makes the list uniform but remains to place the character set in a
single location.
The constrained draw was constraining the polygon size to fit the
existing points rather than extending the existing points to fit the
user's intent.
This adds a 90° double-joint for the completion polygon that allows the
user to complete common constrained polygons visually based on the
preview with a double-click to finish.
Changing common settings in EDA_BASE_FRAME may segfault for frames that
don't implement tool manager yet (simulator)

deque structures have higher overhead than vectors. Not usually
problematic, but with hundreds of thousands of characters each with only
a few strokes, the overhead becomes dominant.
Therefore, for some footprints, the right footprint was not associated to the component.
The hash calculation was using a XOR to combine 2 sub hash values.
This is not a strong way to combine these hash values.

It allow using the previous font set without CJK.
The new font (with CJK) is very large (10x), and can create (on Opengl) out of memory issues
with some graphic cards.

The base initialization of EDA_RECT sets a 0/0/0/0 rectangle that
prevents merging properly with valid EDA_RECT. This sets the default to
be uninitialized until the internal data are set.
This allows rapid debugging of the coroutine memory issues. It moves
the default stack size to 256 * 4096 = 2^20, which will utilize full
pages on all architectures.
1) don't ASSERT; use exceptions (which can be caught) instead.

libcontext currently restores and saves the FPSCR register
on ppc64. This behavior is fine (though unnecessary) on the
ELFv1 ABI which designates the register as volatile, but has
been observed to cause crashes on ELFv2 systems.
The ELFv2 ABI designates the FPSCR register as Limited-access
and specifies specific conditions that must be met to clobber
it. It does not seem that a context swap function meets these
conditions (and indeed, the save/restore register example in the
ABI document does not modify FPSCR).
This patch fixes ELFv2 ABI compliance by removing the FPSCR
save/restore code in libcontext entirely. This fixes observed
crashes on the platform and should have no consequence for
ELFv1 support.

Previously, for instance after modifying preferences or language,
they were rebuilt but the tools state was not set due to a missing call to SyncToolbars() after rebuilding.

- automatic clamp to user scale limits, to avoid many warnings to users.
- if the user scale is out of bounds, warn the user before trying to print, not when opening the dialog.

m_toolMgr->ProcessEvent() returns false when a ESC key is handled. It should return true.
So we force the handled flag to true for a ESC key event to avoid skipping this event.
Otherwise the ESC key event is handled twice.
At the beginning of tool dispatcher, the ProcessEvent did not return the fact a key event was captured or not.
Now this is the case, and the old char event filtering was no longer correctly working,
and some events were not fired, especially on Windows.
I'm not sure these are necessary but I got a crash when checking one
as a boolean instead of calling is_initialized(). Sadly, my debugger
doesn't like boost, so I didn't get much more info.
For items defined by 2 point, the ending point coordinates are rounded to the near integer,
but the starting point coordinates were just truncated instead of being rounding,
creating sometimes an error for horizontal or vertical lines.

This changes make_lexer() so that it no longer generates a custom target
but instead attaches the generated files to an existing one (so the first
argument now is the name of an existing library or executable, and it needs
to come after the add_library/add_executable call).
The generated source is no longer listed in the project sources, as it is
added by the function. The files are generated in the build tree rather
than the source tree, and the directory is added to the include path for
the respective project as well as exported to projects linking against it.
Generated files in subdirectories are somewhat supported, but need to be
referenced with the same name as they were generated (i.e. including the
subdirectory name).

Includes the addition of an onSetCursor() handler which must be called
from both the GAL canvas AND the GAL backend (at least on OSX) to prevent
cursor flickering between (for instance) pencil and arrow.
Also includes new architecture for point editors which allows them to
coordiate cursors with the editing tools (so we can switch to an arrow
when over a point).
We were running into various corner conditions where a tool's event
loop would exit while the tool was still active, or the tool would
get popped while we were still in the event loop. (A lot of these
had to do with the POINT_EDITOR's, but not all of them.)
The new architecture:
1) tools always do a Push()/Pop()
2) everyone is responsible for their own pops; no more stack-clearing
on a cancel
3) CancelInteractive events go to all tools to facilitate (2)
In .gbrjob file, one can specify the thickness and color of some layers.
Currently, there is no way to enter these parameters.
This commit prepare a better support of .gbrjob files.
While wxWidgets has Navigate() and NavigateIn(), they're not compiled
on GTK because it supposedly has native TAB control. Of course its
native TAB control won't get you out of a grid, so that leaves us in
a bit of a pinch. This implements a poor-man's Navigate() which will
at least get us out of the grid.

It was calculating the bounding box twice (and failing to honour
the accuracy parameter on the bounding box test).
Worse, constructing the bounding box is about the same speed as
the rigorous test, so it never improves things.
Oblong holes (slots) use now a aperture attribute similar to round holes.
(The previous attribute "slot" is now deprecated)
However they have a specific aperture, and a comment is added in drill files for these apertures.
In singletop mode, all frames show the "Quit" option in the file menu
and will quit on Ctrl-Q. When launched from the main KiCad interface,
sub-programs show the "Close" option instead and will close with Ctrl-W.
In this mode, Ctrl-Q will instruct the main program to exit.

A few files snuck in with CRLF for the line endings. These make it hard
to look at diffs as every line appears to have changed. This commit

Use the wxTextValidator style flag to allow the user to clear the library
identifier string. Use wxTextValidator::SetStyle( wxFILTER_EMPTY ) to
prevent empty library identifier strings which is the current behavior.
This handles images with transparent colors by mapping the transparent
color to white. This only works when plotted into the background.

DIALOG_EXIT was not being laid out correctly after setting the dialog
message. Rather than fix our custom DIALOG_EXIT, wxMessageDialog and
wxRichMessageDialog were substituted as direct replacements for all
of the variants of DIALOG_EXIT. This make message dialogs appear more
consistent because wxMessageDialog uses the default platform message
dialog and wxRichMessageDialog uses the default platform rich message
dialog on windows.
Remove DIALOG_EXIT_BASE as it is no longer required.

If a tool called something like clearSelection while processing a
MOUSE_CLICK, the SELECTION_TOOL will pass the clearSelection
COMMAND_EVENT because it handles it as a transition, not as an
event. Because m_passEvent is effectively global, the tool manager
would then interpret that as passing the MOUSE_CLICK and we'd end
up processing the click by multiple tools.
Re-arranging the stack will invalidate the iterator that is removed and
inserted (begin()). Because this is not a threaded operation, we can
only do it to ourselves, so check that the operation isn't a NOP before
performing.

Delete the copy ctor and assignment operator to start with, but
even then the separate apps each have their own statically allocated
copy of the common actions. So we need to update all of them, which
also means having the kicad manager frame's set of actions on hand).

the hotkeys set is now likely to be sparse with respect to the
actions.
eeschema cpp files consume generated header files that have targets in
the common directory, so no dependencies get created from eeschema. We

These options were used to support the legacy canvas when drawing on
MacOS and GTK3. With the move to 100% GAL, they are extraneous. This
moves all DC over to "COPY" as we only use this for printing support in
Eeschema at the moment, so there is a single draw command (no erasing)
for the canvas.
When we assign a string to the wxFilename, it takes the last section as
the filename (unless there is a trailing '/'). So on Linux, we got
/home/user for the Documents dir and /home/ was the directory while
'user' was the filename. Appending directories 'kicad/templates' made
the final directory '/home/kicad/templates'. Forcing this to be a
directory restores correct behavior.

Two issues:
* Unassigned hotkeys were being passed to WX in the menu strings as
"<unassigned>". WX doesn't recognise this, and prints debug each time.
Unassigned hotkeys are no longer rare or naughty, so we shouldn't provoke
debug spew. Suppress by not appending hotkey strings for actions with 0
(i.e. unassigned) hotkey IDs.
* The zone cutout tool uses GR_KB_SHIFT, not MD_SHIFT. This causes
"unknown hotkey" spew from WX.
Return the EDA_DRAW_FRAME class back to common, whence it came (before it was
duplicated into legacy_wx and legacy_gal). Now there is only one
implementation (the GAL one), it doesn't need to be in a separate library.
This simplifies the dependencies for common lib users.
This mixes the de-emphasized layers into the background color rather
than merely a black color. This also keeps some of the original layer
color.

It was due to a angle normalization between -360 and 360 degrees.
So, in arcs, if the start angle and end angle diff is n*360 deg,

We prevent the creation of invalid polygons by keeping the converging

Due to an interaction with old (<1.59) versions of Boost, the ostream
operator<< for wxPoint and wxSize is requried to use
BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL_COLLECTIONS (the print_log_value<T> function is not
used by this macro until 1.59).
Because these functions are available in Debug builds, unit tests that
use such functions will break when compiled as Release or
RelWithDebugInfo.
The change here is to not disable these functions in Release builds.
Also, the functions are moved to common.h, to go with other generic
WX "polyfill" functions. Although they might be commonly used by the
EDA_ITEM::Show functions, they are not specifically related to that
class.

Crashes occured when arcs of 0-length were found and when parts were
referenced in the schematic that were not found in the library. This

This places the arc approximation setting in the kicad_pcb file and uses
it for all parts of the board rendering where arcs are converted to
segments. This allows the user to customize their speed vs. accuracy
tradeoff. The default setting of maximum error of 0.005mm is acceptable
for small boards on moderate systems.
The source bitmap was copied to the new created item.
However, for Checkable menu-items, when setting a bitmap, our standard check bitmap is also added.
This is unwanted when the source bitmap is the wxNullBitmap (bitmap sizes are different)
The bitmap pointer is not checked at copy construct. This is
an instant segfault if you copy an empty bitmap.
Fix the constructor and remove the expected test failure, from the
previous commit.
This corrects an issue with fill segments-per-circle and moves the error
to segmetns calculation down in a number of functions to expose the
single value for approximation
Sometimes we want to inflate a polygon without adding rounded edges.
This add the option using the jtMiter setting.
This is used in the Eagle parser to expand the Eagle zones for KiCad.
Eagle Zones are drawn on the polygon edge, so they extend out from the
outline. KiCad zones are drawn inside the polygon. We need to both
increase the zone size and decrease the minimum pen width to account for
this.

This commit redirected too many menuitem IDs to the tool manager.
Only some context menu items have to be redirected, not all inside ACTION_EVENT events.
This hack is not perfect. It needs a better handling of ACTION_EVENT handling.
This removes the remaining hard-coded segments counts and replaces them
with the relative error calculation where the segments per arc is
determined by the maximum error we allow (smaller arcs = fewer segments)
Add the N/Shift+N hotkeys to the eeschema hotkey file.
Also adjust the COMMON_TOOLS::GridNext/Prev to work when
the screen's grid definitions do not have consecutive command
IDs (they do not in eeschema).

Remove the axis numbering code from ARRAY_OPTIONS
and place in a new class, ARRAY_AXIS. This keeps
the logic for the array item numbering separate from
the logic for the array item geometry.
This simplifies the logic in the ARRAY_OPTIONS class, which
no longer has to deal with the numbering of each axis.
Replace INCREMENTAL_TEXT_CTRL with wxSpinCtrlDouble because it looks
and works better.
Remove INCREMENTAL_TEXT_CTRL header and source files because the only
place they were used was in GAL_OPTIONS_PANEL.
Note that the comment in line 142 where the scale factor was set had the
correct value to indicate metric (1) but in the actual boilerplate, we
set imperial (0). This has been around for 6-8 years, so it would seem
DXF is not our most popular export.
Note, I initially tried to use '1' to specify metric units but this was
not handled by DXF readers (QCAM, Inkscape). Instead, scaling the page
units to inches properly seems to work.
The default is meant to be "Save" but "Discard" was selected due to ID
ordering on creation. Setting the focus before setting the default
makes the "Save" option the highlighted option that can be selected
immediately by pressing enter.
When drawing an arc, show a guide circle that indicates the
radius of the arc at the current cursor. This can be useful
as a guide for seeing where the arc will reach once the radius
is fixed by the second click.

Provide a toolkit-agnostic interface for "busy indicators", which
allows the 3D viewer to show a busy cursor, without the canvases
having to to know how a wxCursore works.
The motivation here is to decouple the 3D renderers from the WX
GUI system, as they can then be used when when there is not an
active window (e.g. for offscreen rendering).
Otherwise, attempting to use a wxBusyCursor without a GUI
available is an instant segfault.
Prevent user from pasting text with carriage return and/or line feed
characters in field value edit control in the schematic symbol and symbol
library properties dialogs.
Make all objects derived from GRID_CELL_TEXT_BUTTON use validators

Force the symbol library links whenever the symbol library table has been
modified. This will use the cache as a fallback when a library has been
removed that contains links in the schematic rather than display.
Fix the SCH_COMPONENT symbol resolver when falling back to the cache. The
resolver was using the LIB_ID ':' notation which was failing. Replacing
':' with '_' fixed this issue. This was also an issue when generating the
symbol message panel information.
Convert wxLogDebug to wxLogTrace in symbol resolver code path. Add new

There is a rendering bug in GTK3, which appears to be
an upstream GTK issue.
This can be worked around by, when filtering, ensuring the
*parent* item of the selected item is visible. This will
not cause the selected item to not be visible, as the selected
item will be the first shown child. So it will be visible, as long
as the list box is greater than a single row high, which it will be
in all practical scenarios.
This is done on all platforms, as it has a beneficial side-effect:
the parent library of the selection is naturally shown to the
user, so they don't need to scroll up to see what library their
current filter selection was in.

This allows a const BITMAP_BASE to expose const image
data. This is currently done with const_casts, which is
"OK", only as long as the source image is not declared
const, in which case it's undefined behaviour.
Also immediately dereference the pointer to a reference
if it's not checked to make the non-null requirements
explicit at the point of access.
Both versions of EDA_DRAW_FRAME::isBusy have a useless const_cast.
GetScreen() const returns a non-const SCH_SCREEN already, it doesn't
need to be cast, and it's stored in const SCH_SCREEN anyway.
This is useful when working on code paths that rely on KiWay
communications, since you can run and debug the kicad application
without needing to run an install task first.
In OpenSSL 1.1.0 and newer, the locking callback macros do nothing.
This causes unused warnings for the static function lock_callback.
Ignore this function on newer OpenSSL builds, but keep
the infrastructure for now.
When OpenSSL's min version is 1.1 or greater, all the locking
infrastructure can be removed.
Prevent a divide-by-zero bug in SHAPE_ARC::ConvertToPolyline.
When the radius is zero, just use the initial angle (it makes
no different anyway, the result is the centre point, which is
the start point.
The wire image undo/redo option required special handling and was only
used in a single location. Replacing with single change handling
reduces the code complexity
Move repeated GAL config reading routines into GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS.
THe app-level config is in here already, do the same for the
common config.
This means that the configs are loaded consistently, which fixes
the symbol-chooser preview window, which previously didn't use the
same config routine as other GAL canvases.
Future work could move these functions to free functions that
act on the public interface of GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS to avoid
GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS having to know about wxConfig and wxWindow.

Hash collisions reduce the speed of unordered maps by increasing the
comparison time of underlying values. This implements the inverse
golden ration offset into the x value to ensure that consecutive points
are far from each other in the map.

On some platforms like MSVC, NaN prints as "-nan(ind)". This
is a bit needlessly ugly, so print "NaN" on all platforms
consistently.
This fixes a test failure on MSVC.
This allows us to make the various netlist and pcb update routines
more atomic and less reliant on carefully sequenced asynchronous
messages.
This is also a prelude to adding support for footprint testing
without a netlist.
Both Cairo and OpenGL had issues (different, though) with circles that are

Statically constructing wxCursors as used for the probe
and tune cursors crashes the qa_eagle_plugin test
instantly.
Fix this by introducing a new class CURSOR_STORE,
which allows to abstract the platform wierdness of wxCursors
and allow the simulator to laziliy init its own cursors
at runtime.
This code isn't properly tested, as these cursors are never
actually used. However, it does allow the eeschema unit test
to run.

wxPlatformInfo::Get() causes a linker error on Msys2.
Fix this by making common link wx explicitly, rather
than implicity via it's dependencies, which cause
wrong-order linker command lines on windows.
First, add automatic detection of toolkit DPI scaling options. For now, this
is, in order,
* Check the GDK_SCALE option under GTK+ (users can set this to force the scaling)
* Check the value from WX's GetContentScalingFactor(). This will start to work
correctly from WX 3.1 and GTK+ 3.10.
Then, add a user-settable override in the main prefs panel, next to the icon
scaling. This is independent of the icon scaling options.
DPI handling is performed in a standalone class, so they can be shared between
the prefs UI and the OpenGL backend easily. Also means Cairo could use the same
interface in future.
Also adjust the OpenGL grid drawing code to use the computed scale factor,
which avoids over-thick grids in scaled environments (the user can manually
thicken the grid if wanted).

Disable the text update event for the orientation cutom value field before

Arc pixel adjustment needs to be limited to +/-1 pixel. But making this
adjustment to nearby points and then using the projection to correct the
center point accumulates errors that are large for angles near 0 and

GTK3 provides for additional input devices via xinput2. These include
touchscreens and continuous scroll devices. But wxWidgets does not have
specialized handlers for these events, so they double up for some
devices. Until wxWidgets allows us to handle these events, we specify
that the input handler should be the old-style GDK_CORE.
GTK3 does a fade in/fade out routine for scrollbars by default. This
was problematic as it caused a cascade of full-screen repaint events on
each mouse event. Instead of disabling scrollbars (which only helped
the full canvas), we force the old scrollbar behavior is environmental
variables.

This was previously "svg:g", but the SVG is declared with only
a "default" namespace, not an "svg:" namespace (looks like
xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" in the svg tag).
This means you cannot use svg: as a NS in the document. It's not
needed anywaY: the default is already correct.
Moreover, mismatching <svg:g> and </g> is always invalid.
When adding colors to length tuner, we depend on the window background
color, which can be set by the user, resulting in an unreadable text.
This uses the HSL conversion to detect which shade it should use for the
coloring.

Apparently FinishDialogSettings() does need to be called on windows to

When loading a part in libedit, also transfer certain screen

Some basic tests on LIB_TABLE and LIB_TABLE_ROW that demonstrate
the behaviour of fallbacks and various access methods.
Also add a few LIB_TABLE_BASE comments and changed some NULLs to
nullptr.
Libpolygon can provide its own includes via target_include_dirs PUBLIC.
This means any linking targets do not need to specifiy them manually.
As common requires polygon, the polygon dep is also now no longer
required downstream of libcommon, as it's transisitvely implied
by libcommon's target_link_libraries.
This resolves a circular dependency previously detected and also
simplifies CMakeLists.
The bitmap definitions (BITMAP_DEF and so on) do not
have any dependencies on other libs, including WX. This
means the bitmaps library can be isolated from the other
dependencies.
Common now depends on bitmaps, and libraries that depend
on common can pick it up from the common target_link_libraries,
as it is PUBLIC. This means a lot of targets no longer
need manual bitmap linkage.
This avoids a circular dependency that was previously reported
by static analysis.
Avoiding pulling in WX and other headers into the include
tree of each bitmap .cpp is a huge speed up (around 10x) in
compilation, and the generated static library is also 10x
smaller (20MB vs 200MB)
Add common as a link library to pnsrouter,connectivity.
THese library do still use common code (including bitmaps,
via base_screen.h) and this allows them to pick up the libcommon
includes correctly.
When the user cancels the footprint load, we should assume they are
canceling the placement of a new footprint. This also adds sanity check
when populating the list

Introduce the concept of a DRC_PROVIDER which allows
to separate the various DRC functions to their own
areas. This allows, amongst other things, a slimmer core
DRC class, and allows DRC functions to be separately testable.
The courtyard DRCs (overlap, missing and malformed)
are the first victims, so instrumentation can be added to this function.
Add some unit tests on this DRC function, as well a few re-usable PCB-based
utility functions in a library (qa_pcbnew_utils) that could be shared between
unit tests and other utilities.
When creating the zone cutout, we delete the old zone and add a new one
with each cutout. This requires resetting the source zone and clearing
our previous selection if we would like to continue using the cutout
tool on the new zone.

NEW: By default a clipboard is pasted to a grid starting from the
cursor position and doesn't matter is a selection of cells present or
not. Often a grid represents the data of a few similar objects like
components, for example. Some number of cells (fields) may have the same
value for a few rows (components). In this case, when filling data we
must copy the range of identical cells from the first row of similar
components and then paste it to every row of the rest components (by
default). From now it may be done easier. We must copy the range of
identical cells from first row of similar components (here is no
changes) and then select rectangular range of cells (for multiple rows)
where must be placed copied data. After pasting copied cells will be
pasted to every selected row.
So in general, we can copy cells from one row and paste it to multiple
rows at a time.
This new feature also makes possible to copy value from one cell and to
paste it to all from the selection.
If copied range of cells is larger than the selection then only the part
of clipboard that matches the selection will be pasted.
CHANGED: By default dialog closes on Esc key immediately and if dialog
has a grid control there is no way to close a cell editor with canceling
changes. New behavior is next: if dialog has a grid and the grid has an
active cell editor Esc key closes cell editor, otherwise Esc key closes
the dialog.
CHANGED: On pasting multiple rows from a clipboard to the end of a
grid, the grid is automatically expanding (appended needed number of
rows). In general case the grid expanding on pasting is inappropriate.
Rows must be added by tools like a button or a menu command etc. In some
cases rows cannot be added at all. So we must paste only the part of
the clipboard that fits between the cursor position and the end of the
grid without a grid extending.
CHANGED: First click sets a cursor to the specified cell, second click
activates editor (current realization, where first click activates cell
editor, is very buggy especially with cells selection).

When removing steiner points, there is the possibility that the test
point is also removed. In this case, it is no longer a member of the
linked list and will break the output.
The test for re-fracturing a broken polygon can also result in multiple
polygons, rather than only 0 or 1. Skipping the extra polygons will
result in a limited tesselation.

The config was saving a canvas type EDA_DRAW_FRAME member not always accurately initialized.
And the last canvas opened frame setup was saved, not necessary a frame having a canvas type that can be set by user.
This is a broken feature especially because the footprint viewer has a fixed canvas setting.
The canvas type might change without the frame being notified. If this
happens, the user is presented with repeated notifications of OpenGL
issues. Howver, switching canvas is not an error and should be
presented to the user as an info message to clarify that the system is
still working but it has changed how it renders the screen.

Misuse of __WXWINDOWS__ for checking the presence of Windows. The correct
macro is __WINDOWS__ or __WXMSW__ in GUI programs.
__WXWINDOWS__ is always set, on all platforms.
Use the AddFileExtListToFilter() to also generate the
wildcard for "all files". This is because:
* Users can use AddFileExtListToFilter for the all files WC
with the same interface as for any other extensions.

Varargs make it very hard to pass strings in flexibly

trigger the autopan action.

The standard DIM() macro was not typesafe as it happily deferred errors
to runtime that can be caught at compile time. Replacing it with a
generic C++11 constexpr allows for typecasting, comparison and compile
time error checking.
If you use add_custom_command to generate the grammar file,
it can be removed by "make clean". This then means the user will
need to get it back from Git, or regenerate it with Lemon.
Changing to add_custom_command removes the output file
from the clean list. The incantation to rebuild the grammar
remains the same: "make libeval_grammar", and it is still not
required to have lemon installed for a normal build.

Cairo supports antialiasing when rendering but can be slow when set to
sub-pixel mode. This bumps the minimum version of Cairo to 1.12
(available in 14.04 LTS as well as mingw) to support three antialias
settings (fast, good, best) that offer speed/appearance tradeoffs.
This can provide a higher-quality eeschema render as it works on a
per-element basis as opposed to the OpenGL per-screen antialias.
Currently, GAL is initialised to NONE (i.e. off). This causes
issues when Legacy canvas is broken (i.e. GTK3).
This changes the default to GAL Cairo, both in PCB_EDIT_FRAME
init, and in the config load.
Now, when the user starts with no config, they are prompted for
a choice: OpenGL or Cairo, and one of them will be set up, with
Cairo as fall back.
Users on platforms that still support legacy can go to it as normal
from the menu, but it will not be the default in any circumstance.

wxChoice centers the selection on GTK. So when switching from a
mid-list item to an item at the top, the list is always cut off for

If a page layout contains bitmaps and is used in all sheets of a hierarchy, and in the board editor,

As a workaround, I disabled bitmaps (therefore associated textures) cache.
Not optimal, but at least it avoid crashes.
The wrong class is called for the ctor of the wxConfigBase - this should
be a wxFileConfig, just like the bare new used to be.

This make the use of legacy canvas on GTK3 a default-off
advanced config. Legacy is substantially broken on GTK3

that the user is stuck and unable to get into pcbnew to change
the setting.

This can be used for "advanced" options which are for developers
to use for feature-flags and other configuration. Run time config
has some advantages over preprocessor defines:
* Can be changed without recompilation
* Sensitive to XDG_CONFIG_DIR, so flipping configs is easy
* Better compiler coverage (less conditionally compiled code means
less chance to break a different configuration). Also better
analysis coverage.
* Type safe config params
* Centralised documentation: it's in doxygen, in one place
No advanced config should be required by a general users. If a general
user does use one of these configs, it's probably because:
* There is a bug and one of these configs is a workaround
* A config in here is generally useful and should be moved into the
relevant application config and given UI.
For now, the config is read-only, and is read from the
"kicad_advanced" config file in the normal config dir.
The fracture() call may result in zero polygons remaining, which will
cause failure in our tesselation routine, so we need to check whether
this is a valid POLYGON before re-tesselating.
Tesselation can fail for a number of reasons. When this happens, we set
the triangulationValid flag to false to prevent using the broken
triangulation. This will fall back to the slow OpenGL triangulation
when DrawPolygon is called.
Use TesselatePolygon() to draw polygons in Gerbview instead of GLU tesselation, much slower.
Add helper methods in GAL to know if the current GAL engine is Cairo, OpenGL or something else,
useful to optimize drawing code.
Graphic lines and polygons are drawn to fit specific areas for which it
is helpful to have the endpoint controlled by the cursor even when
constraining the angle.

Under GTK3, the scrollbars fade in and out, causing a cascade of
re-paint events. These cause KiCad to be unresponsive while the repaint
events occur. By default this is 1s fade in 1s fade out but can be
configured by the user/wm.
Area mapping the repaint events to just scrollbar areas will be a good
solution but until/unless that happens the scrollbars in GTK3 are
problematic.
On GTK+3, the zoom events are smaller and faster, so
the trigger the zoom acceleration.
A simple fix is to use the non-accelerated Mac-style
zooming and an appropriate constant. This can be tweaked
further as needed.

GTK3 smooth scrolling is enabled by wxWidgets but not to the exclusion
of normal scroll up/down events. wxWidgets maps these both to the same
scroll handler and will fire them both if they are not handled before
being queued. Testing timestamps allows us to mark and ignore the
dupes.
This is set to GTK3 only for now as it isn't listed as a problem for
other platforms. But it shouldn't cause issues if it is enabled
elsewhere in the future.
The libeval grammar can now be rebuilt with "make libeval_grammar".
This is only possible when lemon is installed.
Also a couple of modifications to the lemon grammar to
account for external changes since the grammer was last generated.
Also move the grammar defines into grammar.h - this is how
Lemon produces them, and by manually copying into the target .cpp,
it make automated regeneration impossible.
This adds a check for contiguous board outlines to the DRC. It also
uses the calculated outline to ensure that traces are not crossing the
outlines.

Due to the implicit floor of the cast from double to unsigned char,
there was a small rounding error in COLOUR4D's WX conversion function.
This fixes the failing tests.
Also make the cast to unsigned char explicit.
This avoids having to manually specify include/legacy_gal
in and legacy GAL targets, and harominizes with legacy_wx.
This also means .cpp files in common/legacy_gal do not
need to specify the legacy_gal subdirectory, so they
will continue to work as needed when legacy_wx is removed.
Display GALs had an incorrect world unit value set. Now the world unit
value says how many internal units are in an inch, in accord with the comments
in the GAL header. Bitmap drawing code relied on the information about DPI,
so scaling worked differently for display and print GALs.
CAIRO_PRINT_CTX provides a Cairo context created from wxPrintDC.
It allows one to prepare printouts using the Cairo library and
let wxWidgets handle the rest.
When reading (and writing) a file, we must switch the current locale to "C" for LC_NUMERIC.
Unfortunately, on Windows, a wxWidgets assert was shown when reading some items (bitmaps images).
This wxWidgets assert (related to decimal separator) is overzealous and is now hidden only when reading/writing files.
Fixes a crash when typing fast in the place footprint filter box.
Also adds a bunch more checking to GAL locking, including making
sure the same person unlocks as locked, and preventing piece-meal
calls (the RAII objects must be used).
The decision to include the TTL library make KiCad a derivative work
under the terms of the AGPL version 3 or later license.

about the KiCad licensing. Contributing to KiCad still falls under

It happens when the char is not found in the font used to display netnames/pad names.
When happens, a wxASSERT is raised.
Unfortunately it can crash the application if it is during a paint event or some critical time.
Linux does not handle the resize command with wide-character extended
table UTF-8. The solution did not work for W7-32bit. This is a
compromise, attempting first the preferred, previous solution and
falling back to the secondary solution.

The connectivity files were unwieldy. This separates them logically
into data, algo and items where the items classes are those that hold,
surprise, surprise, the items, lists and clusters.
This prevents deadlocks when exceptions are thrown and the context
ends up not getting unlocked.
It also removes an earlier hack to try and minimize this which
didn't work anyway.
Dynamic casts should only be used when we explicitly check for the
resulting pointer to be NULL. Where we know the class is castable we
can use static_cast, save on overhead and ensure our resulting pointer
is non-null.
Block rotate and mirror now work like they do in Pcbnew (that is
they're treated as part of the block move/duplicate/whatever
rather than finishing it).

Split antialiasing options out from display options. Move
antialiasing to common. Duplicate the rest of display options
for Eeschema.
Implement OnSelectGrid and hookup GAL canvas refresh to

5.0 doesn't set the GAL's line width. It gets away with this since
it's using the same GAL to measure as to set up the drawing, so
the width happens to be set correctly for other reasons. 5.1 uses
a separate GAL and so isn't so lucky.
Note: it's only the renderer that is changed from wxDC to GAL. Tools stay the same, consider this a temporary hack.
This commit splits the EDA_DRAW_FRAME, EDA_DRAW_PANEL and BLOCK_SELECTOR classes into two variants, each independently compiled into a static library.
- "legacy_wx" for PCBnew/Gerbview - wxDC-based legacy canvas. We have full GAL support there anyway so it makes no sense to introduce GAL rendering API to the legacy tools.
- "legacy_gal" for EEschema and the rest - GAL-based legacy canvas, using legacy tools but with a GAL renderer.
Such split ensures only a small part of the common library and eeschema is affected, without messing around with already GALified tools.
The commit also removes some header dependencies on class_drawpanel.h
It would appear that some platforms process the KILL_FOCUS event
after running TransferDataFromWindow(). This change makes sure
that the evaluation is done no matter the order.

The '/' and ':' are reserved and cannot be used in symbol or footprint
names. They will cause the LIB_ID parser and formatter to fail. While
it seems like they should be legal in symbol alias names, they will
trigger a symbol rescue the next time the schematic is loaded.
Use ID_SCH as in the Eagle schematic plugin rather than ID_ALIAS to
ensure symbol names do not need rescued the next time the schematic is
opened.
Remove ID_ALIAS since the rules for alias names are the same as the
rules for symbol names. Otherwise, allowing '/' and ':' in alias names
will force a symbol rescue on the next schematic load.

When querying the view, we do not want to including items that are not

There are lot of places where constants are used in the KiCad UI
as "magic numbers". The most common one is "5", used in many
wxFormBuilder and manual UI constructions as the margin.
This commit provides a place for all UI to look up shared
constants and other functions, to help create a consistent UI using
functions that provide meaning and intent to these magic numbers.
This is in preparation for making this widget optionally read-only.
Major changes:
* Construct panel in code, not with wxFormBuilder. This make's it
easier to conditionally construct elements that won't be used
in a read-only mode (e.g. the buttons).
* Use a generic "button row panel" widget for the buttons, as the
sizing and layout logic is reusable in nearly all dialogs, and
it's simplifies layout in the higher-level dialog widget. This
widget is one example of many possible "reuable widgets".
Put the cursor and pan control TOOL_ACTIONs in ACTION,
and refer to them in that way.
The handlers are currently identical in Pcbnew and Cvpcb,
and Gerbview (and all canvases) can benefit from them as well
if they are in libcommon. Also saves duplicated code.

This separates the "ground truth" store of hotkeys from what is shown
in the dialog. This will allow us to filter the displayed hotkeys
while keeping the same underlying data structures.
Now, the UI data items interact with an intermediate set of data, which
represents the "original" hotkey data, and the "changed" data. The
ultimate aim here is to allow UI elements to come and go, but the
hotkeys that are "in-edit" are preserved.
This also allows us to abstract some bookkeeping complexity
out of the WIDGET_HOTKEY_LIST class into a separate non-GUI
class.
GTK uses a level of cooperative multitasking when dealing with
secondary event loops. This gives the wm enough leeway to process the
redraw before returning to the secondary loop
This commit finishes the removal of OpenMP from the KiCad codebase.

Primary change is to replace most control/window borders with
AUI pane borders. We implement our own AUI border drawing
routine which avoids the ugly one-pixel white frames around
dark canvasses.
Also increases the signal-to-noise ratio of all the pane
creation code in the various frames.
Don't process zoom both in Legacy code and Modern code; one of
them will decide the zoom has already changed and do odd things.
Make sure the view is updated after zooming, otherwise you have
to move the mouse over the canvas before seeing the new zoom.
On Linux (GTK?) the accelerator key BkSp, when used in menus must be coded as "\t\b" and not "\tBkSp".
However, On Windows, it must be "\tBkSp".
Joys of multi-platform development.
This reverts the previous work-around 7d62f14dd for the RTree splitting
degeneracy that was placed prior to v5. It appears not to have worked
for all systems. In its place, we use doubles instead of floats to
calculate the bounding box when filling the RTree. This keeps maximum
volume items from overlapping with the system boundary in test cases.
Be more intelligent about sorting lib tree items. (Footprint
entries, for instance, come out of an already-sorted list.)
Don't recreate menus twice when laoding Footprint Editor.
More pervasive use of WX_FILENAME to avoid expensive calls to
wxFileName::SplitPath() and string concatenation.
For POSIX kernels do all the work on the file-system side so we

Eagle allows for variants of components to be listed in the schematic.
This patch copies the variant data into the imported schematic item,
prefixing the alternate variant names with "VARIANT_" and keeping the

There's no point in having both Save Symbol and Save Library when

The general idea is to support user-units inheritance. The
UNIT_BINDER allows wrapped controls to inherit units from their
parent dialog, while KEYWAY_HOLDER and DIALOG_SHIM allow child
KEYWAY_HOLDERs or DIALOG_SHIMs to inherit units from their
parent.
The GetUserUnits() method signature has to move to KEYWAY_HOLDER
rather than KEYWAY_PLAYER (where it makes more sense) as it’s the
only common ancestor of KEYWAY_PLAYER and DIALOG_SHIM.
As long as we'll be using the UNIT_BINDER more widely, it also
makes sense to move evaluation and validation into it.
This commit also provides eeschema’s DIALOG_LABEL_EDITOR and
pcbnew’s DIALOG_TRACK_VIA_PROPERTIES and DIALOG_SET_GRID as
models of how to use the new user-units inheritance, eval, and
validation.

When staging a commit for an object that has already been modified,
there is a Clone() made for the hypothetical entry. We need to free it
if we are not storing a new entry.
When parsing component names, we need to account for the possibility of
illegal characters (e.g. "/", ":") in the names from v4 libraries. They
are fixed internally by the cache parser but if we don't fix them
in the rescue routine, the symbol won't match it's cache name.
This standardizes all schematic illegal character routines into LIB_ID

Paths based on DEFAULT_INSTALL_PATH do not work on Windows,
as in fact there is no default install path, as in case of Unix-based
systems. In such case, the initial paths point to mingw subdirectories

The origin item doesn't have a fixed size. It is constant on the screen but
changes the effective BBox size based on the zoom level.
But we can't simply set it to the maximum size as this causes a splitting degeneracy

During the symbol library table implementation, the legal character
tests for the footprint library table were changed and the forward
slash '/' character became illegal. This change broke editing some
users footprint library tables that already had '/' in library table
nicknames. This change split the library nickname and library item
name illegal character tests.
It happens only when the 'warp and center cursor on zoom' option is disabled.
Was created after modifying the code in EDA_DRAW_FRAME::AdjustScrollBars(),
making EDA_DRAW_FRAME::RedrawScreen2() not working very well.

There are three related changes here to harden our handling of threads
in the footprint async loader.
1) Footprint async loader explicitly aborts any remaining loader threads
on exit.
2) We protect the thread join by a mutex
3) We do not pause during no-wait routines
In Cairo mode, this function uses already the alpha color value setting.
Now for low alpha values (usually they are low, as said in many GAL comments),
Cairo mode and OpenGL mode should have a similar look.
Also lock the DeleteAll call with mutext to protect threaded access.
The OpenGL contexts are removed when OPENGL_GAL class is destroyed.
Explicitly deleting all contexts prior to destroying the OPENGL_GAL
class causes an assert when the destructor tries to lock its context
prior to cleaning up OpenGL memory. In most cases, an unhandled assert
in a destructor-called function will simply exit the destructor.
Python thread cleanup will also attempt to close the context. This can
cause a race condition with multiple threads accessing/deleting the
canvas.

Remove KICAD_PTEMPLATE environment variable as it's purpose was not
clear and was often poorly defined as the path to the KiCad installed
templates.
Add a new KICAD_TEMPLATE_DIR environment variable which clearly should

variable available in the user settings in case the default is wrong
which has been the case in some instances. Use the standard search

This reverts the hotkeys file format to a human readable and VCS
compatible listing by splitting individual hotkey assignments onto
separate lines instead of the single key. This unifies the hotkey format
between the application configuration and export Hotkey routines.
Both hotkey formats remain readable by the same routines.
The tools were being set as idle, whenever an event handler execution
finished (via TOOL_MANAGER::finishTool()). Such approach does not take
into account cases when a tool is active and receives an event causing
another event handler of the same tool to run. When this happend, the
tool has been incorrectly set as idle when the second handler finished
its execution.
In a particular case, invoking the router settings dialog caused the PNS
router to be incorrectly detected as inactive in
EDIT_TOOL::invokeInlineRouter(). Due to that, ROUTER_TOOL::CanInlineDrag()
requested a selection that required disambiguation menu for items
that were modified by the router, but not yet committed. After the drag
tool had finished, the disambiguation menu was eventually shown
with items existing only in the undo buffer. Removing such item lead to
track DLIST corruption, effectively erasing all tracks.

The opencascade patch intrusively checked against libraries but broke
some build scripts. This restores the default cmake OCE behavior that was
changed by 2bab30d9a and makes the OpenCascade search truly secondary.
Minor improvement in polygon calculation to use consecutive points
rather than casting to a full segment. Avoids division except when it
will not create a denormal.
Footprint filter provides two Regex filtering options. One for keywords
and one for footprint keywords. The footprint keywords (contained in
the symbol files) need explicit '*' at the beginning and end of the
filters to allow matching start/end. Type-in filters should search

Recent versions of wxWidgets wxStandardPaths::GetUserConfigDir() correctly
append ".config" on Linux build which was incorrect as the current code

The only required scroll event handler is wxEVT_SCROLLWIN_THUMBTRACK,
which is responsible for dragging the scrolling sliders. One of the
remaining ones is also called when mousewheel is scrolled (MSW only) and
due to that overrides the new view setting with view settings computed

The hotkey fix committed in 53b1ec81 broke non-us keyboards. Change the
hotkey help hotkey from '?' to Ctrl+F1 to prevent the hotkey list dialog
from being shown when placing a bus wire junction in Eeschema and when
changing the track posture in Pcbnew. This is still broken in the GAL
framework.
Symbol/footprint library and entry have the same set of forbidden
characters with a single exception, space character. To accommodate for
this difference, LIB_ID validation and fix methods have been extended to
specify the LIB_ID type that is checked (schematic/board).
LIB_ID::HasIllegalChars() and LIB_ID::FixIllegalChars() had two different
sets of characters treated as invalid in LIB_IDs. The set has been
factored out to another function to avoid duplication.
wxASSERT(), contrary to assert() does not terminate the program when
triggered. As assertions in ACTION_MANAGER are not critical and should be
treated as warnings - there is no need to close the program.
Also update the rest of the symbol-chooser usage to current
specs, including examining the timestamp to see if the list
needs loading at all.

The change track posture hotkey '/' was getting interpreted as the show
hotkey list shortcut '?' on windows. This fix is temporary hack to fix
the problem which much more involved than the simple #ifdef/#endif used
to fix this issue.
Add key code tracing to help analyze key codes for future development.
This is due to the fact the same ID was used for menuitems in menubar,
and tools in toobars.
Especially, some items were not compatible due to different attributes.
Windows does not accept the same ID for 2 items inside the same frame.
It creates issues (items not shown, Asserts, ...)
Fixes issue where TestSegmentHit falsely skips segments that are
slightly off 45°. Improves speed of function by exiting on non-hits
more quickly. Simplifies function and removes magic numbers.
This is so that tools checking for a selected item won't think
the menu has been cancelled if the selection was in a submenu.

While we already cache the loaded footprint files, parsing said files
into the list is also time-intensive. Since the FOOTPRINT_LIST is
already hash-stamped against the current timestamps of the files that
make up the list, sharing a single copy of the list is quite
straight-forward.
Clearing bClError flag in NumericEvaluator::parseOk() made the
expression look valid, even if the flag has been set for a previous
token. Now it is cleared before an expression is parsed and verified
after parser finishes.

For some DRC checks, the location of the marker is not the location
of the first item in the resulting DRC_ITEM, so centering the screen
on PointA of the DRC_ITEM can be confusing.
DIALOG_SHIM stores the dialog position, so every time it is shown, it is
displayed in the same location. This caused problems on multidisplay
setups, as dialogs could show up off the screen if the original display
has been detached in the meantime, effectively making them inaccesible
to the user.

Normal SetValue() call would temporarily change the displayed
value, but as soon as the text widget receives focus again, the original
expression (not evaluated) is restored.
To avoid this, the original expression is cleared in the associated
NumericEvaluator object.
Since we are going to inspect every item for these calls, we don't
need to use the RTREE search, which is expensive with high item count.
This results in ~50% improvement in layer switching time in GerbView
when working with a set of large Gerber files.
If ',' is used as decimal separator by the current locale a '.' is also accepted.
Also add support for units "mi", "th" and "in" as described in the documentation of pcbnew.

Smartens the cache freshness checking, and adds checksums of
constituent-directory last-mod-dates to the footprint info
list.
Also inserts the dataPtrs into the list at the same time as
the text to keep wxWidgets from measuring the width of the
text twice (yes, really). And converts the list to default-
column widths in case the wxWidgets patch is present to
greatly speed list creation (by not measuring all that text).
On my machine drops the first-load time from 4s to 2.5s and
the subsequent-load times from 2.5s to < 1s. With the
wxWidgets patch subsequent-loads become near-instantaneous.
Many had already been fixed but weren't working on Mac because
of the DIALOG_SHIM hack (now fixed). Others hadn't been updated
yet. Also includes some cleanup for elipses in buttons and
layout.

Launching right click context menu overrides the cursor position, so all
actions executed by the tools will be performed in the right click
position. It created an issue, as the overridden cursor settings were
saved into wrong context if there was another tool activated in the
meantime.

them once the right click context menu disappears.

Keystroke zoom (F1/F2) always centered the screen, because it
was handled as ID_POPUP_ZOOM_IN event. Mousewheel scrolling
was ok, because it is handled using different event based
on the configuration.
This patch introduces special event ids for keystroke
zooming that are then properly translated to either
ID_POPUP_ZOOM_IN or ID_OFFCENTER_ZOOM_IN depending
on the configuration.
The same issue is fixed for legacy canvas pcbnew.

PICKED_ITEMS_LIST knows the architecture of the undo commands so
that it can delete those ITEMs which it owns. This represents poor
encapsulation so instead of adding yet another case, I added a
UR_TRANSIENT item flag which is set by callers whenever they create
new objects to “give to” the undo/redo stack. This allowed some
cleanup of other code, but cleaning up UR_DELETE and UR_WIRE_IMAGE
will be a bigger task and have to wait for another day.

The undo/redo operations are essentially the same as for
UR_CHANGED: we store both the origin marker item and a copy
of it and flip back and forth between the two. This also
required the implementation of clone() for the markers.
The ORIGIN_VIEWMARKER is moved from being a subclass of
EDA_ITEM to BOARD_ITEM to facilitate the use of a UR_CHANGE-
like implementation without having to know the internals
of the ORIGIN_VIEWMARKER.
In the command processors, the setting of the origins is
broken into two parts: one for UI-level access which includes
setting up undo, and one for low-level access which does not.
The undo/redo code itself of course uses the lower level.

Gal mode: graphic cross-air cursor moved on items when clicking on & DRC error, like in legacy mode.
Make popup menu shown when right clicking on a DRC error item working.
OSX activates windows before telling the application, so there's
no good way to implement wxWidgets window enable/disable. This
patch keeps the quasi-modal dialog and its parent windows order
in the z-list fixed, and re-activates the quasi-modal dialog
whenever the OS activates the parent window.
This is meant as a stopgap for 5.0, with plans to add proper scaled
icons in the 6.0 cycle. A function KiScaledBitmap() is added, which
works like KiBitmap() except it scales the bitmap according to the
calling window's font size. Controls have been added to all the main
applications to let the user select scaling manually (these were omitted
from smaller apps that didn't already have a place to put them).
In addition, in eeschema only, the pixel height of the system font is
shown in the options dialog for diagnostics. This is only for collecting
feedback before 5.0 release from users with different displays and will
be removed.

The Windows drive specifier C: was being interpreted as a valid URL by
wxURI which was performing a URL comparison instead of a file comparison
which always failed in LIB_TABLE_BASE::FindRowByURI(). Change test for
URI to search string for "://" to determine if the comparison should be
a URI (string) comparison or a file (wxFileName) comparison.
Don't run final rescue unless the user performs the remapping.
Move the OSX dialog fix ups later so they come after some wxWindow
deferred processing.
Also provides a facility for doing a selectAll in each text field
so that tabbing between text fields behaves correctly.

The remapping utility would create a new project specific library when a
symbolic link pointed to a library already defined in the symbol library
table. Now the comparison checks to see if the library path and file
name are actually a symbolic link if the file names are not the same when
the symbol library table entry is a file name rather than a URL. URLs
are simple string comparisons.

The polygon drawing routing in the OpenGL-GAL did

The OPENGL_GAL::drawPolygon function and all functions using it
did not respect the isFillEnabled member set by
GAL::SetIsFill. This is fixed by this patch.
There were two problems in the triangulation caching
of SHAPE_POLY_SET:
First there was a double free:
While SHAPE_POLY_SET implements the copy constructor,
it did not implement the operator=, which resulted
in the default operator= being generated by the
compiler. The default operator= copied the member
m_triangulatedPolys, which is a std::vector of pointers.
So after operator= execution, there are two SHAPE_POLY_SET
having pointers to the same TRIANGULATED_POLYGONs, each
of them deleting them in their destructors. This led
to segfaults, because calling
TransformShapeWithClearanceToPolygon on a Zone
uses operator= to copy the contained SHAPE_POLY_SET.
The new SHAPE_POLY_SET then went out of scope and
deleted the cached triangulation within the Zone.
This first problem is fixed by implementing operator=
for SHAPE_POLY_SET.
Second, there was a memory leak: Calling
"CacheTriangulation" on a SHAPE_POLY_SET,
then changing the polygon and then calling
"CacheTriangulation" again led to
leaking the
triangulations generated in the first call.
This second problem is fixed by holding
the cached triangulations in a unique_ptr.
Moved the code handling text overbars to a single function
(ProcessOverbars()) to replace similar pieces of code trying to do the
same thing.

Raise() invokes SetFocus() on Windows OS, leading to an API error
(check wxWindowMSW::SetFocus() in wxWidgets/src/msw/window.cpp as
of wxWidgets 3.0.2). In certain cases it leads to a crash.
SEARCH_STACK is a deprecated method for getting the list of paths where
one could look for a file. Instead it tries the project path and
environmental variables.
- renamed connectivity.[h|cpp] to connectivity_data [.h|.cpp] so that the file name matches the main class name.
- GetNetItems() now returns a vector instead of a list
Dotted, dashed and dash-dot lines are provided in
HPGL, PDF, PS and SVG plot outputs along with line
width and color formatting.
DXF format does not currently provide any dashed
line functionality
A bug in HPGL plotted is corrected. Previous HPGL
dashed line commands were incorrect, plotting all
lines as solid.
The GTK+ file dialog is case sensitive however it does support regular
expressions. Most of the file dialog wildcards are lower case so only
files with the lower case extensions will show up in the file dialog.
This code adds a method to convert file extensions of any case to the
appropriate (sch -> [sS][cC][hH]) regular expression on GTK+ builds so
all file extension case combinations will show up in the file dialog.
A note to developers: make sure to add a file extension when setting
when setting the default file argument. If you do don't set an
extension, the GTK+ file dialog will happily append the regular
expression as the file extension which is surely not what you want.
There are still a few known places (mostly gerbview) where there are
some complex wildcard code that has not been converted.

A copy and paste error was causing to footprint library table file name
and path to be shown in the symbol library table edit dialog. Factor
out code in PROJECT::FootprintLibTblName() to PROJECT::libTableName()
to handle both symbol and footprint library table names and create a
new PROJECT::SymbolLibTableName() method to fix the path and file name
in the symbol library table edit dialog.
Simplify some of the library editing code. There have been a few minor
changes in the behavior of the editor. If the current symbol is deleted
from the library, the next symbol in the library is not loaded. The
deleted symbol is cleared and the current symbol is empty.
Change component to symbol to align with the preferred terminology

Add separate update UI event for save library as to enable the menu entry

Make all trace environment variable strings upper case and prefix with
KICAD_TRACE_ for consistency.
Add Doxygen group for the trace environment variable strings.
The fix is now only for Windows, because it creates issues and does not fix the special keys issues on Linux.
This is due to the serious differences in event management between platforms.
fp viewer uses the default colors, because it has no color setup dialog.

This forces the compiler class specific features rather than borrowing
from the base class's std::string. In some cases prior to this,
wxString( std::string ) was being called rather than UTF8::operator
wxString() leading to garbled wxStrings.
Added function UTF8::wx_str() which is of great convenience also.
Implicit conversions still work as before, and hopefully more reliably.
This commit was too broad and not cognizant of the purpose of the class
UTF8.
Add MAYBE_VERIFY_UTF8() macro, which can trap non-UTF8 encoded strings in
debug builds.
Use that macro conditionally in class UTF8 to trap non-UTF8 encoded strings
being put into UTF8 instances.
Fix potential memory leak in both footprint and symbol library table
parsers when a duplicate library nickname entry exists.

In the previous version the method did not work correctly
when an action was invoked from context menu. In such case,

is available, but it crashed when it was not in the same directory
as the executable. Now it displays an error message that allows the

Allow partial library reads in libraries that support footprint per file.
This includes the KiCad and GEDA footprint libraries.
Allow for partially cached libraries rather than ignoring all valid files
when an error occurs.
The is a bug in the wxMimeTypeManager object that sets the wrong default
PDF viewer on Linux. Using wxLaunchDefaultApplication resolves the issue.
Remove angle brackets <> from error message as this causes issues with
controls that interpret HTML text.
Remove GetChars() from string formatting functions since it is not
required with wxWidgets 3 or greater.
Before the refactor library browser display Bezier curves correctly only
once, at other times they were just straight lines or crashed the
application.
All E'STRUCTS' are moved to common except for ERULES (which is
specific to pcbnew and needs its internal units), still in
pcbnew/eagle_plugin.{h,cpp}
In order to get rid of another boost dependency, this also changes
the parsing of the XML from Boost.PropertyTree to wxXml.
To replace boost::optional, an OPTIONAL_XML_ATTRIBUTE class has
been implemented. This could be replaced with std::optional when
C++17 is ready.
The footprint library cache handler would throw an exception on the
first error it encountered preventing all subsequent footprint files
from being parsed even if there was nothing wrong with them. This
commit queues errors until all of the footprint files in the folder
have been parsed.

The recent refactoring work to move zones from CPolyLine to
SHAPE_POLY_SET resulted in a reduction in pcbnew's python
capabilities. This change exposed SHAPE_POLY_SET to restore
that functionality (albeit with slightly different method names)
Fix incorrect frame deletion, only noticeable when eeschema is run in stand alone mode.
After selecting a footprint using the footprint viewer, the application cannot be closed.
Reason:
the footprint viewer ctor creates an instance (not shown) of a FRAME_PCB.
Unfortunately, this pcb frame was not deleted by Eeschema, in stand alone mode,
preventing the application to be closed because a frame was still active after closing the schematic editor frame.
Now the footprint viewer ctor delete this instance after use, if it was not previously existing.
After selecting a footprint using the footprint viewer, the application cannot be closed.
Reason:

Independent drawing functions (that don't expect any particular state to
be set up fo them) on the GAL need to reset the GAL properties they
use. This adds GAL::ResetTextAttributes() to make this easier.
This is important, as failing to reset mirroring can cause asserts in
OpenGL.
This is used in the Ruler tool (which previously did it one attribute at
a time) and also the Arc layout assistant, which previously failed to
reset mirroring.
Also reset on GAL construction, as these members appear to be
uninitialised.
Factor out the FP_LIB_TABLE specific content from FP_TBL_MODEL into a new
LIB_TABLE_GRID class that can be used for any library table grid mix in.

Removes the need of using the legacy code in polygon/PolyLine.{h,cpp},
refactoring all CPolyLine instances with SHAPE_POLY_SET instances.
The remaining legacy methods have been ported to SHAPE_POLY_SET;
mainly: Chamfer, Fillet, {,Un}Hatch.
The iteration over the polygon vertices have been simplified using the
family of ITERATOR classes.
The executable name constants are only used by two files, they do not
have to be in common.h.
Also converted to const wxString for better type-safety and removed
old-style wxT macros.
This function is called only from three sites, it doesn't need to be in
common.h.
The implementation was already in systemdirsappend.cpp, so a matching
header was created for it.
This reduces the visibility of the function to only the files that need
it and slightly shrinks common.h.
The global ::LockFile() function is used in a single place, but it's in
common.h, so visible to all files.
The GetKicadLockFilePath function is used in only two places, and one of
them is LockFile.
This commit puts them both in a separate header, so they're only visible
to code using them.
The implementation of GetKicadLockFilePath is moved to lockfile.cpp,
where LockFile already was.
Also removed a (large) handful of wxT macros, which aren't needed any
more and make code less readable.
The currentTarget member of OPENGL_GAL is not initialised, but the
currentManager member is.
This commit uses SetTarget to initialise both target and manager to a
consistent state at construction.
The zone creation in DRAWING_TOOL was a complex event loop whici
simultaneously managed the event handling, construction of the preview
polygon and the creation and commiting of the zone, all in the same
scope. This has been broken into several pieces:
* POLYGON_ITEM preview item, used to preview the polygon in progress
* POLYGON_GEOM_MANAGER is a class that collects points from user input
and used them to describe a polygon's geometry, including calculation
of 45-degree constrained leader lines
* ZONE_CREATE_HELPER is a class which deals with creating zones based on
geometry from a geometry manager and parameters from the DRAWING_TOOL
* The (much simpler) event loop in DRAWING_TOOL drives the
POLYGON_GEOM_MANAGER. With a minor refactor, this loop can be reused
in future for other polygonal tools if wanted.
The polygon preview now has a translucent fill which makes it easier to
visualise the zone.
This also adds the Close Zone Outline and Delete Last Corner actions as
part of the new event loop.

This uses the two-point geometry manager to split the logic of the ruler
geometry and the preview item display. This allows the ruler to use that
manager's angle snap feature.
The motivation here is to concentrate display options in the GAL display
settings, ready for removal of legacy canvases. Instead of having the
property as a member of the DRAW_FRAME, with the GAL canvas retreiving
it from there, it is now in the GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS struct, and both GAL
and legacy get it from there.
The options for setting cursor shape are then moved out of the general
options dialog, and into the GAL display options widget, where they can
be used in all GAL-aware programs.
GAL cursor shape works on GAL, but not legacy, so the option is now
available on OSX (but only affects GAL, and is labelled as such).
This gives a bit more space to the GAL options in the left panel
Also tidy up some code style and unnecessary default arguments in the
GAL display planel widget.
This makes it clearer when a tool is active, otherwise interactive tool
effects like auto-pan can come as a surprise when the cursor is forced
to display all the time.
A new items is added to the GAL display options (and the dialog), and a
hotkey (Ctrl+Shift+x) is added to toggle it.

This adds the microwave tools to GAL in Pcbnew as a new tool:
MICROWAVE_TOOL.
Some new preview items are introduced to support this:
* TWO_POINT_GEOM_MANAGER for managing construction of two-point
geometries, such as that used to construct the inductor.
* CENTRELINE_RECT_ITEM a preview item to draw ractangle with a given
aspect ratio along a line (specified using a TWO_POINT_GEOM_MANAGER)
PCB_TOOL gets a generic event loops which should be useful for more
than just microwave tools:
* doInteractiveItemPlacement() - handles event loops that wait for a
click, create an item on click and then allow moving it
around/flipping, etc.

This adds a richer overlay to the arc-by-three-points tool in Pcbnew,
including more guide-lines and a live display of radius and angle.
Also included is ability to go back to the previous step (if setting end
angle, you can go back to setting start point, etc) using Backspace, and
Ctrl snaps the start/end angles to 45 degree multiples.
This adds new classes
* MULTISTEP_GEOM_MANAGER: represents a generic "geometry manager" that
builds up some geometrical construction based on a sequence of points.
Used by:
* ARC_GEOM_MANAGER: handles the logical flow of constructing an
arc by centre-point, set radius, set angle. This moves the logic out
of the Pcbnew DRAWING_TOOL event loop in drawArc().
* ARC_ASSISTANT: graphical overlay to communicate current arc shape to
the user during the drawing process
Add typedef for wxCoord to wx.i to enable usage of methods like
EDA_RECT.Inflate.
Added id.h to pcbnew.i to expose window toolbar identifier names.
Added Refresh() and WindowZoom() to pcbnew_scripting_helper.
The primary motivation here is to allow other GAL canvas users (eg
Modedit, and soon Gerbview) to be able to easily modify GAL canvas
options.
For now, this doesn't change the display properties dialog in
appearance, but if more GAL options are added, it might need a bit of
tweak and maybe tabs or similar, like Eeschema preferences.

This simplifies the (already simple) SELECTION_AREA class. It is also
moved into KIGFX::PREVIEW and put in the common library, where it can be
reused by other GAL-aware tools (not just in Pcbnew) in future.
This introduces SIMPLE_OVERLAT_ITEM, which is an abstract EDA_ITEM,
designed for use as an overlay for assisting interactive tools.
The item is drawn only on the GP_OVERLAY layer, and sets the fill,
stroke and line properties before calling a virtual function to draw the
shape, which will depend on the implementaiton of the derived class.
The motivation here is to simplify and unify basic overlays used when
in interactive tools. It is not designed to be the base class of all
possible overlays - more complex ones would be more clearly represented
as their own derivative of EDA_ITEM.
Applications of this class can include: zoom/select rectangles, zone
polygon previews, geometric shape helpers, and so on.
When drawing polylines using SHAPE_LINE_CHAIN, the polyline is always
was drawn closed in GAL and open in Cairo, regardless of the state of
SHAPE_LINE_CHAIN.

Representing the data with a proper model allows the wxDataViewCtrl to
be updated in bulk, which is significantly faster than the old method of
populating it one item at a time. This also adds flexibility if more
data is to be added in the future (which may come in handy with the
upcoming .sweet format, as that adds more ways components can be related
to each other).
Replacing the wxTreeListCtrl with a wxDataViewCtrl also significantly
reduces the general GUI quirkiness, as wxDataViewCtrl is much more well
behaved.
This is the right implementation of the commit b25ded4d.
Previously if there were tools launched from another tool,
the settings could be stored in a wrong TOOL_STATE object.
BOARD::GetBoundingBox() now directly calls BOARD::ComputeBoundingBox()
and there is a new method BOARD::GetBoardEdgesBoundingBox() used for
call sites that needed to use ComputeBoundingBox( true ) in the past.
This allows COMMON_TOOLS to implement ZoomFitScreen without knowledge
of the BOARD class.
There are times, when TOOL_MANAGER has to force cursor position
to make tools work as expected (e.g. when popping up a menu,
so tools get the right click position instead of current position
pointing to an entry in the menu).
If another tool is invoked, VIEW_CONTROLS settings have to be stored
in the TOOL_STATE object. In such case, it is necessary to revert the
force cursor setting when saving VIEW_CONTROLS settings.

Init'ing static wxBitmaps in the global scope happens before the GUI is
ready, which segfaults, at least on GTK+. This can happen in, for
example, the Python module. In normal use, the singletop/kicad
loader has initialised the GUI first, so it doesn't manifest there.
The introduces INDICATOR_ICON, which is a very simple class holding a
bitmap that can toggle on or off.
The ICON_PROVIDER class then provides icons to INDICATOR_ICONS, which
means the class can be used for more than just row indicators.
A default row icon provider is also provided for use in the standard row
selector.
This introduces COLOR_SWATCH, which is a reusable
widget that shows a color swatch and can invoke the colour picker
when duble/middle clicked.
It uses it's own wxCommandEvent to signal the change.
This makes the layer widget simpler internally, and also allows other
code to show identical swatches if needed.
SELECTION now holds EDA_ITEMs not BOARD_ITEMs so various places had to
change to casting the selected items to BOARD_ITEMs.

Call UseDrawPriority( true ) after creating GAL to enable.
VIEW::Add() gets a new optional argument to specify the draw order
when adding an item. If the new argument is left default, the draw
order will increment with each call of VIEW::Add().
Fix std::bind calls after change to VIEW::Add
get_value_or() is considered deprecated, but still works in the newest
boost (1.63). On the other hand, value_or() is not available in some
versions that are still used by major distros.
dispatchContextMenu() stores the cursor position before displaying a
menu, so the tools use the original cursor position when processing
events (instead of the mouse position pointing to a menu entry). Later,
the previous position has to be restored, but if in the meantime the
tool was cancelled - previous settings were restored to a wrong tool.
This is used to provide menu entries that allows cancellation of
interactive drawing and routing tools without needing the keyboard.
It is provided in the drawing tools and the router tool.
The cancel event doesn't have any new functionality (e.g. track rip-up
for the PNS router - lp:1448460), this just adds it to the menu, where
it behaves the same as an Escape keypress.
Has pointed out by Jon Evans the constructor need the .ToColour() and should be called like:
wxPen pen( GetParent()->GetGridColor().ToColour(), h );

eeschema now supports arbitrary colors for all object types, and
pcbnew does in GAL canvas. When switching from GAL to legacy canvas,
pcbnew will convert colors to the nearest legacy color.
Some grid/zoom tools are left in PCBNEW_CONTROL because they currently
depend on Pcbnew-specific class members. Once refactoring is done to
make it possible to use all zoom and grid controls outside of pcbnew,
these last tools can be moved to common to match their ACTIONs.
New virtual class ACTIONS is added as a member to EDA_DRAW_FRAME so
that the TOOL_DISPATCHER can have access to the appropriate derived
version of TranslateLegacyId()
The apply settings and push settings options now take account of the
validity of the global pad settings when deciding whether to show or
not.
Global pad push now requires a source pad and doesn't push from the
global pad setting when there is no selection.
The whole submenu is hidden when there are no enabled items.

When reading config options from files, it's important to make sure the
value makes sense - the incoming data could be anything, and may have
incompatible values or be otherwise unreliable.
This introduces a simple way to define and use "mapping tables" which
can map between a "native" value, probably an enum (but not necessarily)
and some external value, for example the value written to file.
This provides a decoupling between the two values, as well as sanitising
inputs and outputs. This is important, as over time, if there isn't a
decoupled interface, changing options result in corrupt configs, or a
proliferation of obsolete enum values kept for compatibility.
This allows the user to set a thicker grid line without causing the
grid lines to become over dense, or just make the grid denser according
to preference.
The term "density" is modified to "minimum grid spacing", which is
the pixel spacing between adjacent grid lines.
The spacing settings now comes in along, with other GAL display settings,
as part of GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS observer functionality. To this end, the
setter in GAL interface is removed, as an external user should be
setting this parameter via the GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS interface.
This adds a user-settable control for the grid line thickness on GAL
canvases to the display options dialog.
The thickness settings now comes in, along with other GAL display
settings, as part of GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS observer functionality. To this
end, the setter in GAL interface is removed, as an external user should
be setting this parameter via the GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS interface.

This class, INCREMENTAL_TEXT_CTRL, is used to provide a frameworks for
classes that want to control a text control that can be incremented
according to some scheme.
Also provided is a wxWidgets implementation with spin buttons for
control, as well as mousewheel support.
This puts the graphical/display options with the other similar options
in that dialog, rather than with the dimension options found in the Set
Grid dialog, which is in the Dimensions menu.
Also place the option itself in the GAL Display Options structure, so it
can be updated using the observer mechanism there.
The setter for the style in the GAL interface is removed, as the public
interface for setting this option is now to modify the
GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS structure and notify the GAL when done.
The GAL_DISPLAY_OPTIONS member of EDA_DRAW_FRAME is a private member and
is used in only a couple of places in the class. The real use of this
member is by a by-ref interface, GetGalDisplayOptions.
Because te GAL options are used by a very select few users of
EDA_DRAW_FRAME, it makes little sense to force all the (many) files
including draw_frame.h to also include gal_display_options.h, when the
vast majority have no need for it.
This massively speeds up compilation of the project when
gal_display_options.h is changed.
More isolation could be acheived by separating the GAL config types (eg
OpenGL antialias modes and grid style) from the options header, as,
although the GAL class uses them, not many includers of the GAL header
need the options struct as well.
This commit brings several changes:
- Add a footprint preview pane to the eeschema component selector
- Upgrade component list to wxTreeListCtrl
- Factor out wxTreeListCtrl subclass TWO_COLUMN_TREE_LIST which
patches a column size bug
- Linkify datasheet URL in info pane
LIB_ID was changing the symbol name due to the parser dropping everything
past the first '/' character which is interpreted by LIB_ID as the item
version. Add flag to ignore this in LIB_ID::SetLibItemName() and add a
new ctor so the library nickname, item name, and revision can be set as
required to prevent the standard LIB_ID parsing.
Fix a few places where PART_LIBS functions FindLibraryAlias() and
FindLibPar() were translating wxString symbol names to LIB_IDs where the
LIB_ID parser was truncating the symbol name.
Setfocus now works on macos dialogs by setting DLGSHIM_USE_SETFOCUS.
This option is only enabled __WXMAC__ is defined.
FixOSXCancelButtonIssue() is now called inside DIALOG_SHIM::SHOW.
All other calls from within the dialogs were removed.
Make all EDA_TEXT data private and rename accessors to avoid function
name collisions in derived classes.

Add support for preserving Reference text position, size, orientation
during a netlist import into a BOARD, as well as the one off footprint
update dialog.
Message type is a kind of notification, so it should be received by all
interested tools. It used to be like that in the past, but has been
broken recently.
There is nothing PCB-frame-specific about this function,
it is equally applicable to an frame, for example
PCB_EDIT_FRAME and CVPCB_MAINFRAME, which have EDA_BASE_FRAME
as the nearest common ancestor, except KIWAY_PLAYER,
which is not really concerned with this kind of UI event method.
When creating a copy of CONTEXT_MENU, always a CONTEXT_MENU instance was
constructed, whereas an inherited type should be used. Solved with
CONTEXT_MENU::create() that has to be overridden in inheriting classes.
Event & update handlers are now virtual functions, instead of setting
the handlers with Set{Event,Update}Handler().
There used to be a number of TOOL_ACTIONs that had entries both in
SetTransitions() and the event loop, which seemed redundant and
troublesome.
Now it is not necessary anymore, transitions setup is enough to execute
associated actions.
The problem with simple deleting VIEW_ITEM_DATA upon VIEW_ITEM removal was
caused by the default copy constructors that copied pointers.
Once a copy of an item was destroyed, the VIEW_ITEM_DATA has been
destroyed, effectively invalidating m_viewPrivData for the other item.
Some faults could result in a crash, as they were not properly
handled. Now the rendering loop is wrapped with try..catch block
which will revert to Cairo in case of an error and display an
error message.

Add a hack so that the pad properties base dialog constructor can pass in the dependency. Since the derived dialog's constructor takes the parent by this exact type, the static cast is safe.
- Finalize transition to BOARD_COMMIT (removed all remaining uses of PICKED_ITEMS_LIST) and implicit view/ratsnest updates
- Simplified SELECTION class, it now can be directly added to a VIEW

Define empty string variable KICAD_BRANCH_NAME that can be used as an
optional version string element. When git is used to build the version
string, this variable is set to the git branch name. It can also be
defined at configuration time as an optional string appended to the
$KICAD_VERSION variable.
Define empty string variable KICAD_VERSION_EXTRA that can be set by
the user at configuration.
The variables KICAD_BRANCH_NAME and KICAD_VERSION_EXTRA are only
appended to KICAD_VERSION if they are set. Otherwise, only KICAD_VERSION
is uses as the version string.
Update the developer building from source document to reflect the changes.
Rename FPID to LIB_ID as is now used as a generic library identifier and
is no longer specific to footprints.
Remove all mention of footprint from the new LIB_ID doxygen comments and
code.
Rename files fpid.h and fpid.cpp to lib_id.h and lib_id.cpp.
Rename fp_lib_table.keywords file to lib_table.keywords and adjust CMake
build dependencies accordingly.
Update all source files effected by the code and file name changes.
Update .gitignore for file name changes.
Create SYM_LIB_TABLE and SYMBOL_LIB_TABLE_ROW objects derived from LIB_TABLE
and LIB_TABLE_ROW respectively for supporting symbol library tables.
Add FPID member to LIB_PART for associating a symbol to a specific library
nickname. Please note, this is not used in any way at this time and will be
implemented when the symbol library table is actually implemented.
Add sym_lib_table keyword to keywords file. This is a temporary measure
until a more elegant method for parsing and formatting library tables can
be implemented.
Build FPID support in the common library instead of the pcbcommon library

Set the default branch name to "undefined" in CreateGitVersionHeader.cmake
instead of the KICAD_REPO_NAME option.
Remove generating KICAD_FULL_VERSION from CreateGitVersionHeader.cmake
and add it to WriteVersionHeader.cmake so that the default settings and
the new KiCadVersion.cmake definitions can be used to generate the full
version string as well.
Check to see if the branch name is set and only use the version to
generate the full version string. This allows the use of the KiCad
version cmake file to create a version only string like "4.0.4" with
no trailing branch name.
Change build_version.cpp to use the full version string rather than
concatenating the version and branch strings.

It is especially true in some Window Managers like KDE, but can be true in any WM, when initializations are made by TransferDataToWindow() method, called by the default wxInitDialogEvent handler.
This feature was not reliably available: neither pl_editor nor GAL supported
it. It has been replaced over the past few commits with a new zoom-to-selection
tool available in all applications and modes.
* An assumption was made that wxDynamicLibrary.Load() would always result in
a wxLogSystemError on failure which was not always true. The code now throws
an exception which is caught by KiCad and an error message is displayed. In
the case where the wxLogSystemError is shown, there will be an annoying two
error messages but that is better than a crash.
Commit BZR 6703 introduced a minor horizontal adjustment for stroke
text rendering in GAL, but the Translate() call was done before
calling Save(). So, when this function was called multiple times a
residual offset carried over to each subsequent line.

Currently, kicad_pcb files have a (version ...) tag, but it is ignored. This
commit does the following:
1. Parse the version. If it's later than the last supported version, present an
alternative error message suggesting an upgrade if the file does not load
correctly. The version will be interpreted as an integer YYYYMMDD to suggest
a KiCad release date.
2. Accept a (version ...) tag also in kicad_mod files, but do not write them
yet. If no version tag is present in these files, assume the version to be that
of the current format version at the time of this commit.
This is meant to be merged to the 4.x stable series, and preps for KiCad 5
which will start emitting version tags also in footprints - users with what
will then be 'old stable' will not get a parse error when we introduce this for
footprints, and we can safely increment the format version later.
Fix erroneous optimization in VECTOR2<T>::Rotate (which was made for angles in degrees): Angles are in radians, and only 0 rd rotation is skipped ( case very frequent, especially in eeschema)
* Add event handler to check all button clicks for default command event
IDs and handle them appropriately by either calling EndQuasiModal() or
passing the event up the event handler chain to allow the default dialog
handlers to perform their magic.
* Add event handler to handle the close window event properly.
* Add scope brackets so the wxBusyCursor will stop being displayed when
the footprint library loading is complete in CvPcb.
* Remove the artificial footprint library read error limit to prevent
potentially readable libraries from being loaded after the error limit
is reached.
* Change error message dialog to an HTML dialog so that potentially large
error messages can be displayed with scrolling and the ability to copy
and paste the error message for bug reporting purposes.
* Add busy cursor when loading the footprint libraries so the user has some
idea that something is happening while the footprint libraries are being
loaded.
(In this case the schematic frame exists, but some members are not initialized as expected, and a crash happens when calling the schematic editor dtor)
Minor other fix: avoid multiple very similar strings to translate in 3d_filename_resolver.cpp
* Refactor edit one field dialogs to use validators and transfer data to and
from window functions.
* Add code to DIALOG_SHIM to handle validation and transfer functions since
the base dialog class code is not called by EndQuasiModal().
* Add custom validator class for filtering field text control characters.

The new (eeschema, so far) hotkeys editor uses the right-click menu for the
reset command, so the reset-to-default function that was added in 6652
(git:0cd7476) was not accessible from eeschema.
* remove duplicate code between draw functions and STROKE_FONT used in GAL. Use only STROKE_FONT methods in draw, plot and test DRC function for texts. It remove slightly different shapes between GAL and other calculations.
* fix incorrect bounding box for texts with overbar. Especially noticeable for texts with overbar inside a copper zone in Pcbnew.
* fix a few minor other bugs related to graphic texts.
- When the Kicad manager is iconized, all other child frames are iconized (normal wxWidgets behavior)
- For viewer frames in modal mode, there is a more annoying issue: they have the wxFLOAT_ON_PARENT frame style on unix, and wxSTAY_ON_TOP on Windows.
wxFLOAT_ON_PARENT frame style is incorrect (although on most WM it works) because the parent frame (Kicad manager Frame) is not the caller. It is usually a main editor frame.
It does not work on Windows (wx STAY_ON_TOP is used).
* Now each editor frame has a null parent.
Therefore iconizing the Kicad manager frame does not iconize other frames.
* Viewer frames have null parent in normal mode and the caller parent in modal mode (therefore wxFLOAT_ON_PARENT frame style is always and correctly used)
* References to opened/closed main frames are no more managed by the (complicated) kicad code. Instead of, a non critical and more easy to understand code just uses FindWindowByName to know if a main window exists or not.
These changes do not fix all issues about Kicad frames brought to the foreground or the background, but it fixes a few issues, and AFAIK do not add other issues.
The functions involved in the problem were PGM_BASE::GetEditorName and
EDA_BASE_FRAME::OnSelectPreferredEditor:
1) OnSelectPreferredEditor showed a dialog to allow the user selecting the
editor, but before that called GetEditorName to get the name of the current
editor (to show as a default in the choose file dialog).
2) The problem was when there was no editor, GetEditorName showed its own
dialog.
3) So the user was seeing first the dialog from (2) and then the dialog from
(1).
4) As GetEditorName is used in many other places the solution I did was to add
to it an optional parameter that tells it what to do if no editor is set. To
avoid modifying other code that relies on the current behaviour, this parameter
has a default value that causes to show the dialog. But now when
OnSelectPreferredEditor calls it, it passes the parameter that causes it to
return an empty string if no editor was set.
5) Also, I found a second bug while doing it which allowed in the first dialog
to select an unexistent file (the dialog was missing the wxFD_FILE_MUST_EXIST
flag).
6) Lastly, to avoid having duplicated code (the one that showed the same dialog
and that configured the wildcard was in two methods) I created a single
function that now both functions call: PGM_BASE::AskUserForPreferredEditor.
This way we also will have consistency in the behaviour of both dialogs and
there is a single place where it needs to be modified.
I tried to merge some constants used both in legacy mode and gal mode (which were, before this patch, separate constants).
There is still a serious work to avoid different calculation code for the same text in draw and plot functions.
Work in progress to merge these calculation functions.
* Dialog copper zones: Always enable thermal shape settings, because even with no thermal, some pads can use thermal option in local pad settings.
* GAL mode: shows page limits in gray color, like in legacy mode, and according to comments in sources.
The standard library requires iterators passed to functions that modify the
container to be mutable iterators, but GCC's implementation accepts
const_iterator in some places where these are only used to mark a place,
but the actual modification happens through a different parameter.
As this breaks implementations that use the passed iterator to modify the
container (e.g. because they use a different data organization), this is
not portable; because we already have a non-const reference to the
container anyway, this is trivially fixed as well.
In the C++ standard, this function is only defined for floating point
types, and integers cannot be implicitly converted. Using explicit
conversions avoids a GCC specific extension to the standard library.
